Smoothie Recipe: “Late Autumn Cali,” plus Moringa

Lately, I’ve been getting more and more excited about moringa. There is a harsh cold virus going around right now. At thanksgiving dinner, about three people were sick. When I first started to feel the itch in my throat, I knew that my lymphs were swelling. I took this as a sign that I had the bug, and my body was fighting it. I started taking 2 to 3 tablespoons of moringa a day for about a week; until that itch went away. The virus never progressed beyond that.

Even though I sometimes felt that I should be resting, I still found the energy to go surfing and do hot yoga. Nevertheless, I noticed how the virus depleted some of my energy. I didn’t feel 100%. I felt less strength. This happened because my body had to redirect energy to combat the virus. With every dose of moringa, I felt my strength return. I was amazed with how quickly I recovered.

At the farmer’s market in Leucadia, I mentioned my experience to Mariko, who grows the moringa in San Marcos. She said that the it efficiently replenishes the body with all the nutrients that it craves. Indeed, the word is that it can solve malnutrition problems all over the world. I believe it.
